The construction process of cast-in anchor channels on building curtain walls

Introduction

The cast-in anchor channel, concealed within a structure and integral to the concrete pour, serves the purpose of connecting load-bearing components during the construction of upper structures. This facilitates the installation and fixation of external engineering equipment foundations. cast-in anchor channels in the curtain wall system ensure enhanced safety and reliability. In essence, constructing cast-in anchor channels is pivotal to the entire support system.

Construction Procedure for Curtain Wall Cast-in Anchor Channels

1、Inspection of cast-in Anchor Channels
Before commencing embedment, verify the variety, specifications, and quantity of the cast-in anchor channels against the project design requirements with a valid certification.

2、Positioning and Fixation of Cast-in Anchor Channels (Key Process, Quality Control Point)
(1) Based on the shear wall’s subdivision dimensions, position the cast-in anchor channels according to the layout, location, variety, and quantity requirements specified in the engineering cast-in anchor channel point layout.

(2) The distance between the cast-in anchor channel and the edges of the wall components should be determined according to design requirements.

(3) The positioning deviation of the cast-in anchor channel should comply with relevant technical requirements.

(4) After positioning the cast-in anchor channels, the inspector should conduct a check and record the results.

(5)Following the positioning of the cast-in anchor channels, firmly weld the anchor bolts to the main structural steel. After positioning, ensure that the surface of the cast-in anchor channels closely adheres to the surface of the formwork.

3、Welding
Securely connect the fixed anchor bolts to the back of the U-shaped channel. The spacing between the anchor bolts should align precisely with the lateral spacing of the civil engineering reinforcement, ensuring each anchor bolt can snugly fit above the placed steel bars. After ensuring the verticality of the cast-in anchor channels, weld the anchor bolts to the steel bars, preventing any displacement in the embedded curtain wall.

4、Installation and Positioning Measures for Curtain Wall cast-in Anchor Channels

For the side of the shear wall with specific construction practices for cast-in components: After the steel reinforcement of the civil engineering shear wall is tied, use a level to determine the verticality of the cast-in anchor channel with a 25cm high wall surface at the bottom layer. Then, spot weld the anchor bolt points under the embedded curtain wall channel to the stirrups. For the middle and upper anchor bolts, weld them to the steel bars, ensuring the distance from the starting point of the steel bars to the plane of the curtain wall embedded component is exactly the thickness of the wall. After the formwork is supported, proceed to individual level and fix the cast-in anchor channels.

For both sides of the shear wall with cast-in anchor channels, follow these construction steps: Adjust the plane-to-surface distance of the embedded curtain wall anchor channels to match the thickness of the shear wall’s protective layer. Then, use a level to determine the verticality of the cast-in anchor channel.

If during the embedding process, any of the anchor bolts of the cast-in anchor channel are found in gaps in the stirrups, auxiliary reinforcement can be added.

5、Concrete Pouring
After cast-in anchor channels, during concrete pouring and compaction, pay attention to protecting the embedded parts. Extend the vibration time around the cast-in channels with a concrete construction vibrator, ensuring the concrete around the cast-in channels is poured and compacted densely. This prevents the occurrence of grout leakage and hollowing, preserving the quality of the cast-in anchor channels. During concrete pouring and compaction, take care to prevent displacement and separation of the cast-in anchor channels from the formwork.

6、Cleaning After Formwork Removal for Curtain Wall cast-in Anchor Channels

Clean off the concrete adhering to the external surface of the cast-in anchor channels after formwork removal, exposing their surfaces.

7、Inspection of Curtain Wall cast-in Anchor Channels
(1) During the layout process, checks on the position of the cast-in anchor channels and structural inspections are sequentially carried out. Starting from a specific axis line, conduct inspections of the position of the cast-in anchor channels and the structure. Record the inspection results.

(2) According to the numbered diagram of the cast-in anchor channels, systematically inspect each one, using instruments such as a laser level, spirit level, and plumb bob to check for positional deviations. Submit the recorded results for analysis by the engineer, who will determine corrective measures for misaligned cast-in anchor channels.
